Last summer was a very successful one for the Nava Adé Clubhouse and Pool.  As residents probably noticed, the upkeep of the Clubhouse was very much improved.  Early in the season, we had the clubhouse professionally reviewed for all areas in need of significant cleaning and repair. Those efforts started us off on the right foot for the summer season.

This year we have made additonal improvements.  Repairs to deteriorating concrete has been completed and interior painting fo the entire facility has also been completed.  Plans to repair and stucco the exterior are underway.

You may also have noticed that the water quality in the pool was very good.  It appears that the changes made in pool equipment and additional professional treatment led to great strides.  At the same time, improvements in security with fences, lighting, card renewals, helped minimize vandalism and problems with the pool being damaged.

The Clubhouse still has upcoming challenges.  There is some consideration for purchasing some new equipment for the exercise room.  This summer we will be replacing the carpeting in the fitness room with improved rubber flooring.  We continue to review options for other imptovements but trying to remain frugal in our planning and choices.  Some members of the committee who have experience with personal training and exercise equipment are helping to generate economical options. Any Nava Adé residents who have ideas about Clubhouse issues, please contact Tony Ortiz at tfo@santafelawyers.com.

Summer is here and the Nava Adé pool is open as of May 16. Please be sure to review the updated 2009 Nava Adé Clubhouse and Pool Rules and Regulations.  A few changes were made to the clubhouse and pool rules so that the HOA is in compliance with the Federal Fair Housing Act.

Since last summer, the HOA has had new drains installed in both the pool and hot tub so that the HOA is in compliance with the federal Virginia Graeme Baker Act.  The Virginia Graeme Baker Act imposes federal regulations to prevent swimmers, especially children, from drowning or other injury due to suction entrapment incidents.

At the board’s request, HOAMCO has hired a part-time summer clubhouse facilitator for Nava Adé instead of relying so heavily on security guards.  Doing so will allow us to provide our residents better service, while saving money at the same time.  The summer clubhouse facilitator’s name is Rosemary Thompson.   Rosemary will be at the clubhouse for a few hours several times a week.

Last summer was a really good summer at the pool – there were fewer pool closures and fewer security incidents.  The clubhouse and pool belong to our community and we are responsible for maintaining these assets.  Please continue to use the clubhouse and pool in a responsible and courteous manner.  If you see something that seems out of place, that is questionable, or that is a violation of our Clubhouse and Pool Rules, please contact HOAMCO at 954-4479 during the day or Associated Security at 955-0440 after 5:00 p.m. and on weekends.

Members should be aware that violation of pool and clubhouse rules may result in the assessment of a fine, denial of access to the facility, or prosecution.

Summary of Pool Rules

Our chief concerns are for maintaining a Safe, Respectful, and Cost Effective environment, and assuring we are consistent with New Mexico law.

A full copy of the Rules has been sent to every household in our community.  In addition, signs are posted outside and inside the pool enclosure, and inside the clubhouse.

The HOA has several objectives in keeping the pool rules updated:

v To make them more complete and easier to understand

v To bring them in line with legislation from the state of New Mexico

v To incorporate the latest thinking from experts on the establishment and enforcement of rules and regulations in Homeowners’ Associations

v To make them more positive, and to provide reasons why these rules exist

In maintaining current pool rules, we have emphasized three positive principles:

  1. Please help to keep the pool and hot tub filters clean and functional.   The filters and chemical delivery systems are costly, and require expensive and regular maintenance to keep them functional.  Keeping the filters running smoothly keeps the water clean and healthy for all.  Please think about all the things you can do NOT to introduce foreign materials (dirt, lotion, thread fibers, fabric dyes, disposable diapers, band-aids, gum, food, etc.) into the pool.
  2. Please be safe, and keep your friends and family safe.  Smoking and drinking are two examples of unsafe behaviors at the pool.  And pets and glass containers should be left at home.
  3. Please be respectful of other members.  This means that you should avoid disturbing other members, who are at the pool to relax, with loud noise, jumping, splashing, music playing, skateboarding, etc.  And do your part to keep the pool deck and clubhouse clean by picking up after yourselves, and appropriately disposing of all trash.
